NAMI Main Line PA and Independence Blue Cross invited the community to find help/find hope at their 2018 mental health information fair and 5k walk. Thanks to all who made the walk a success!
Main Line NAMI on the Move – Stepping out for Mental Health Awareness took place on Saturday, October 13, at Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church, 36 Ardmore Avenue, Ardmore. This free, family-friendly community event featured welcoming remarks from Dr. Mike Cirigliano, medical correspondent for the Fox 29 News program “Good Day Philadelphia,” a mental health resources fair, and a 5k walk (with 1k option) through downtown Ardmore.
A highlight of the event was a brief presentation by Jordan Burnham, survivor of a suicide attempt during his senior year in high school. Jordan is now a nationally-recognized mental health advocate who has addressed a Congressional briefing on Capitol Hill and was chosen as one of the “Best of Philly” for his work in public speaking and advocacy.
The walk promoted awareness in our community and raised funds enabling us to continue offering programs and resources that help people who live with mental illness
Save the Date for this year’s walk which will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Watch this space for updates on how you can participate.
