NAMI PA, Main Line is seeking additional advocates for good mental health policies. As you probably know, there currently are pressing advocacy issues, including:
  • at the federal level, the proposed cuts in health insurance coverage that funds crucial services for individuals with mental illness.
  • at the state level, proposed cuts in funding for behavioral health services.

Feature of the Week: Online and Telephone Support Groups

NAMI PA, Main Line has a webpage outlining organizations that provide online and telephone support for both individuals with mental illness and also their families. This can be helpful for people who are not able or do not wish to go to a support group. Many organizations offer chat rooms and forums for support but some also offer phone in and online meetings.

Upcoming Events

Now is the Time Bucks County is hosting a conference on June 13: Bridging the Gap with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual youth. The conference will focus on providing a better understanding of how to engage and support LGBTQIA youth and young adults in their journey to adulthood. This event will be held at Delaware Valley University 700 E. Butler Ave, Doylestown, PA 18901. Registration is free but space is limited:

Join NAMI Bucks on June 15 for a forum: Treatment Resistant Depression: Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. If you or a loved one is challenged by depression, dTMS may be the right choice for you.
