NAMI Main Line Upcoming Virtual Events
NAMI Main Line Workshop: How Problem-Solving Skills Really Can Solve Problems will be on Sunday, April 25, from 2-4 p.m. This workshop will offer guidance in problem-solving skills that can be particularly important for families that include a loved one with mental illness. It will also provide opportunities to practice these skills. Our workshop leader, Edie Mannion, LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), is the co-founder/director of the Training and Education Center at Mental Health Partnerships, a private therapist and consultant specializing specializing in adults with mental health disorders and their families. Compeer of Suburban Philadelphia will hold a virtual workshop, “Stop and Listen,” on Wednesday, February 24, from noon-1:30 p.m. Participants will learn more about the practice of taking a moment in your day to stop and listen to the world around you, stop and listen to your world, stop and listen to you. Whether it’s meditation, prayer, or our learned cultural and ethical responses to the world around us, we will discuss how daily positive habits can help you build your Foundation. This workshop will be facilitated by Phil Morrison, a licensed Social Worker. He has been working in the field of social welfare for almost 30 years. Phil works closely with Magellan and the county’s provider agencies, serving individuals on their individual wellness paths to recovery. To register, click here.
NAMI Bucks County’s webinar, “Services Instead of the Slammer: Exploring Diversion for Offenders with Mental Illness” will be on Thursday, February 25, at 7 p.m. Forensic psychiatrists practicing in the three different states will present on the topic of diversion of individuals with mental illness from jails and prisons. The lecture will include background information regarding the origins of diversion programs, current needs and limitations, and research about the success of these programs. They will also discuss their experiences working with diversion programs and highlight characteristics of successful diversion programs. Pennsylvania Care Partnership is offering Black Mental Health Matters, a two-part webinar facilitated by Dr. Eunice Peterson, a board-certified Adult, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. The webinar is an interactive presentation with a Q&A session designed to provide participants with an understanding of how racism impacts mental health.
