For the first time in more than 15 years, the Governor’s proposed budget includes an increase to mental health base funding. Additionally, there are several bills to allocate the ARPA money that has been earmarked for the behavioral health system. These funds have the potential to transform system as we know it!

NAMI Main Line Support Groups Meeting Next Week
The Bryn Mawr Family Member Support Group will meet on Monday, June 5, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. If you have a family member or loved one with mental illness and are interested in this support group, please contact Diane at dmkotrl@gmail.com for more information.
Our NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group for adults living with mental illness on meets on Tuesday evenings. This group will have in-person meetings on the1st and 3rd Tuesdays and Zoom Meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month. Our Parent Peer Support Group for parents with a middle school through young adult child meets weekly on Wednesday evenings via Zoom. If you are interested in joining this support group, please email Nancy.

The Pennsylvania Care Partnership is hosting “Supporting Members of the LGBTQ+ Community” on Thursday, June 8, from noon to 1:30 p.m. In this webinar, the speakers will explore what we can do to create a safe and accepting community for our LGBTQ+ youth and young adults with mental health diagnoses. Missy Peters, System of Care Coordinator/High Fidelity Wraparound Supervisor at Blair HealthChoices, will talk about the work she is doing in Blair County to pick up where Covid interrupted. Missy will talk about being a person who is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, her journey, her experiences, and her motivations to do the work she is doing. Brittany Feaster, High Fidelity Wraparound Coach/Facilitator at Blair HealthChoices, will talk about being an ally to Missy, to her community, and her commitment to being an ally. Bella Davis, Brittany’s teenage daughter, will talk to us about being a teenager in today’s world and how teens are more accepting and inclusive of all people.
