Registration Now Open for Fall Education Courses
We will be offering a hybrid Family-to-Family (F2F) course on Zoom and in person in Havertown once a week for 8 consecutive weeks from 6 – 8:30 p.m. on Monday evenings beginning on September 30. Family-to-Fmily is a course structured to help family members understand and support a relative diagnosed with a serious mental illness while maintaining their own well-being. The course is taught by trained volunteer family members who know what it’s like to have a loved one with a serious mental illness. F2F is offered as a community service without charge. We will be offering an in person Peer-to-Peer (P2P) course on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Upper Darby beginning in early October. Peer-to-Peer is a free, eight-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery. Taught by trained leaders with lived experience, this program includes activities, discussions and informative videos. It does not include recommendations for treatment approaches. Our Havertown NAMI Family Support Group will meet in-person on Tuesday, September 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Llanerch Presbyterian Church, 211 Lansdowne Road, Havertown. For more information or if you are new to the group, please contact Nora at nora@huntjohnson.org.
Our Media NAMI Family Member Support Group will meet virtually and in-person simultaneously on Thursday, September 19, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Lima United Methodist Church, 209 N. Our NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group for adults living with mental illness meets on Tuesday evenings. This group will have in-person meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays and Zoom meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month. NAMI Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Behavioral Health and Advocacy Taskforce will be presenting a series of NAMI Smarts for Advocacy programs this fall. The first program, Telling Your Story, will be offered virtually on Monday, September 16, from noon – 2:00 p.m. NAMI Smarts for Advocacy is a hands-on advocacy training program that helps people with mental illness, friends and family to transform their passion and lived experience into skillfull grassroots advocacy.
