Upcoming Virtual Events
Mental Health America is offering a free webinar, “Agoraphobia and Germaphobia in COVID-19” on Friday, August 14, at 2:15 p.m. For many healthcare workers, the COVID-19 pandemic has shaken perceptions of relative safety versus danger in their field. The nature of this crisis increases risk for symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress among healthcare workers. A variety of problematic coping mechanisms are especially tempting now, including increased substance use, over-eating, and excessive spending through online shopping. Existing methods for managing anxiety about germs and other symptoms of psychological distress can offer guidelines about coping with COVID-19 related anxieties. For more information and to register, go to https://www.mhanational.org/events/agoraphobia-and-germaphobia-covid-19.
Join NAMI Bucks County for virtual forum, “Surviving the War Against Yourself,” on Monday, August 17, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. PA Parent and Family Alliance is offering a webinar, “An Introduction to Trauma for Parents and Caregivers,” on Thursday, August 20, at 6:30 p.m. Parents and Caregivers can play an important role in helping children recover from traumatic events. This workshop is designed to provide parents and caregivers with introductory information about the impact of trauma and the power of relationships to help children heal. The more parents and caregivers understand how trauma affects children, the more they will understand the reasons for kids’ behaviors and emotions, and the more they will be able to help them cope.
